Almost two years ago, a group of creatives met in a coffee shop, and decided to embark upon a project to promote art, fashion, photography and design in the Milwaukee area. Everyone was a volunteer, and felt that their efforts should benefit a worthy cause, one that makes the people in the area better. One member of the group told his story; one of coming out, being rejected by his family and navigating his survival, rejection and life all on his own. He suggested Courage MKE benefit from the proceeds, as most young people with this dilemma are not always as fortunate. They don't always survive. The group agreed immediately and formed OPP (Other Peoples' Project) focusing on the talents of others, to showcase beauty and art in Milwaukee. The first project idea was a fashion show. OPP members decided that the project they created, should last longer than an evening. It should last a year, making Milwaukee a better and more beautiful place, one month at a time. That's when the OPP calendar project was born. This 2022 inaugural calendar will become a yearly fundraiser to support this effort! The Courage MKE gala, November 5, 2022, is the launch of something very special which we hope will continue for many years to come!
